Volunteering

Helping the Pack Go!

It is always busy with school, work, sports, and home for each of us, but there is something special about Scouting that adds to the quality of our child's life that makes the time and effort we put into the program valuable. Scouting supports and promotes the family and community with many individual, den and pack activities like “Pinewood Derby” and the “Blue & Gold Banquet.”

Whether you participate in small or big ways, visibly or behind the scenes - your contribution is welcome and appreciated!

- We welcome suggestions, any time.
- Even if you aren't ready to help in a big way, we welcome any help you can provide.
- If you have a special area of interest that you could share with us, let us know.
- The pack committee & interested family members meet monthly to plan the program and prepare for events. Join us.

We hope Scouting will regularly be on your schedule, and that you will find it a richly rewarding experience for the entire family.

Please give some of your time to benefit your child, the scouts, and enrich yourself.

Adult Volunteer Application Process

Speak with pack leadership first about your interest in assisting. Depending on your role, you likely will NOT be required to complete all of these steps. For example, the CA specific training is only applicable to those who have direct contact with children for either 16 hours per month or 32 hours per year.

As such, pack leadership can direct you to the paperwork & training YOU must complete. The steps/links below are included in their entirety simply to provide a central reference location for them. You are welcome to take any training that interests you, even if not required for your position.

1) Create yourself a My.Scouting.Org account
2) Apply as an Adult leader on Scouting.Org
3) Complete BSA's online Youth Protection Training (this will be done annually)
4) Complete CA's online mandated reporting training (volunteer version) (this is done one time)
5) Go to https://californiascouting.org/oc/

- Upload your certificate of completion for CA training
- Fill out and upload your background check consent form
- You can find your Scouting Member ID at the top of this page.

6) Complete your LiveScan / Fingerprinting as directed in step 3 here, at your convenience.
7) Complete your BSA position specific online training.
